Poly-Puff was designed by Mark Middleton, who — through over a decade of ESL teaching — was inspired to create a user-friendly learning experience for all English learners. With more than 7,600 lessons delivered to students across the globe, he saw first-hand what works, what does not, and what most apps completely miss.
Poly-Puff is not here to replace the teacher, but to make the learning journey more convenient and enjoyable for both student and teacher. It bridges the gap between the classroom and independent study, giving learners the structured repetition, real-time feedback, and confidence-building tools they need to grow - on their own schedule.

Why Poly-Puff Exists
Most language apps are built by engineers. Poly-Puff was built by a teacher. That difference matters. After years in the virtual classroom, it became clear that students did not lack motivation - they lacked the right kind of practice between lessons. They needed something that felt like a patient tutor, not a gamified quiz machine.
Poly-Puff was designed around one core belief: context beats repetition. Knowing a word in isolation is not the same as knowing how to use it.
